Jan Scully, Sacramento District Attorney, Marv Stern, prosecutor, and Cynthia Besemer, Office of the Sacramento District Attorney. Detective Clark Fancher and Sergeant Joseph Dean from Sacramento Sheriff's Department. C. J. Ford Private Investigations. Shawn Mallory - Wrongfully Convicted and Incarcerated
Shawn Mallory was wrongfully convicted of the murder of Francis Joseph Mallory, 3-16-1993 because Michael Wetherbee lied. It was the "PATH OF LEAST RESISTANCE" the prosecution used to convict Shawn. Letter to Jan Scully, Sacramento District Attorney, and reply from Cynthia Besemer, Office of the Sacramento District Attorney. This was the easiest way for the prosecutor to win their case and not necessarily finding the truth who murdered Shawn's husband. She has been unjustly incarcerated in Valley State Prison for Women for over 16 years and still maintains her fantastic spirit.

Originally, this web site was developed for Shawn Mallory to display her artwork (of which she taught herself), a few of her recipes, and some of her thoughts, however as a friend of hers and her sister, I was compelled to use this web site as a "sounding board" to Shawn Mallory's wrongful incarceration and conviction.

Let me give you a bit of background how I came to know Shawn and April. My name is Ron Pumphrey and I am a web developer. A few years ago, I was taking a few classes and volunteered my time at a local Sacramento college when a woman asked me to write an inmate since she knew I understood what it was like to be isolated from the world from my experiences in the military earlier in my life. This woman gave me a few names and addresses to pick from.

These were random names and I chose one. It happened to be Shawn Mallory. I had no idea who she was or the crime she was convicted of. I started writing her in March 2005 and we have been pen pals to each other ever since.

After studying the transcripts of the parole hearing, I was more baffled so I decided to look into the case itself. There are many facets to this situation. Before the parole denial, I did not delve into the circumstances surrounding this case. The more I sorted through this mess; the more compelled I was to examine many of the events that happened.

Please read this letter from the Sacramento District Attorney's Office.

DISCLAIMER

I looked at this case with a very opened mind and extremely objective point of view. I did not go into this trying to prove or disprove any theories surrounding the case, especially since this was a circumstantial evidence case. I was only interested in search of the truth. If I discovered nothing to contradict the theory the prosecutor used that convicted Shawn, I would have not looked any deeper into the matter and walked away.

To be honest, April and I were fearful that we would find something that connected Shawn to the crime. Alas, April and I were so elated to discover Shawn had absolutely nothing to with death of her husband. Even a letter from the Sacramento District Attorney's office states, "...she could not have been the person who actually shot Frances Mallory." [Note: The spelling of his name is F-R-A-N-C-I-S]

I will explain much of what I have uncovered. You must draw your own assumptions. Almost everything stated are my conjectures and opinions that come from the documents, transcripts, audiotape interviews with the Sheriff detectives, and the videos of the crime scene.

From the information and data I had seen so far, demonstrates to me this is not a very complex case, there is just an over abundance of pieces to this puzzle. I have been sorting through the collection of this tangled mess to get a clearer picture.

Please view this web site with an open mind without any preconceived thinking. Please read my discaimer above. So by entering this web site you understand and realize all the conjectures and opinions about this case are mine.
